British Passport application

Post by FayEng » Tue Dec 29, 2015 7:53 pm

Hi there experts

I have a query about section 4 of British passport application. I am an Indian and both my parents were born in india . They are asking to mention the date of marriage and date of birth of grand parents who are no more .There is no proper record of my deceased grandparents. Can anybody help who have applied recently as to what you have mentioned. I am planning to apply next week

Best regards

1. This is not a 'general query' thread.

2. If you don't know your parents details, write 'date of birth not known' and just write their names in. Grandparents details are not required for people who have naturalised.

British Passport Application-FAQ

Post by FayEng » Wed Dec 30, 2015 6:46 pm

Hi there

I was searching answers for some of my questions pertaining to British Passport application. Some where I did find a FAQ link posted by anybody. Can anybody please let me know where the FAQ is available in the home office site so I can print them and keep as evidence when going for Check and Send ?? I searched home office site and passport site could not find anything other than the one posted on the forum.

Please help

Wishing all a very Happy New Year

Fay

FAQs Citizenship Common Questions (click)
You don't need to take any 'evidence' to check and send. Most of them know what the process is.

What question, besides the one you have asked, do you still have? The passport guidance notes is fairly clear on what you need to complete etc.

The FAQs on the forum is what the admin/moderators have put together based on experience and what the requirements are, they are not HO guidance.

For passport applications, the guidance notes is the best you have.

Why do you think check in send need to see evidence of HO FAQs? You are over thinking the process.

Ok thanks for your comforting reply. I have another question.

I am from Southern part of India with a very long name. I want to shorten it. Reading the forum with difficulties faced by members. I am thinking of the following:

1.Apply for British passport with the current name ( as in naturalisation certificate)
2. Surrender my Indian passport
3. Deed poll
4, Apply for passport again with new shortened name

I am not worried about double costs. Do you think I am doing the right thing??

Your advise will be much appreciated

Yes, change your name AFTER you receive your first British Passport.

I cannot comment on the Indian passport issue and that would be a question for the 'Other Countries' forum further down the main page.

HI

I have applied for my passport through post office check and send. Is it poosible to track the application??

Can we track if the application has reached the HMPO?

I have read that many of the guys have called the Passport office call line in 4-5 days after they have applied.

Any guidance will be much appreciated
