Hi everyone,
I am sorry for this to be my first post but I have a problem and not much time to solve it!
I am American. My wife is British by birth. I was granted ILR in May 2014 after going through the Spousal Visa program. My BRC was stolen over the weekend inside the UK. I have travel booked for the end of JUNE 2017 and again in August 2017, both from UK to EU countries and direct back to UK.
What are my options? It looks like the postal BRC (RC) applications are taking months and I just can't wait that long. Since my BRC was more than 2 years old I would have to send my passport in with the application and I cannot find how long it will take for them to send the passport back. Do they send it back quickly or do they hold it until the BRC is complete? I just don't remember what they did last time.
If I did the postal application and they send my passport back... If my application is outstanding and I have my passport, is it safe to travel? I have copies of my original BRC and 6 stamps in my passport where have entered with it, the BRC number hand written next to each stamp.
It looks like I am eligible for the Premium Same Day service at the Croydon Centre, I would appreciate if anyone can help me confirm this, nice to have a second set of eyes. I do have spent criminal convictions in the US, but it does not state if this makes me ineligible since this is only a replacement card? I obviously don't want to spend that much money but if it's my only safe way to travel this summer, I will.
Is expedited naturalisation another option for me? I have saved the money to do this as I want to become British. If it would save me money in the long run, I would rather go ahead and go this route now, but again I am not sure if this is possible without my BRC and with the convictions from the US.
Thank you so much for any help!! If I have left something out, please just ask! THANKS!
