Were you born before or after January 1, 1983?Mensur wrote:My mother is British but she was not born in the UK so therefore I am not eligible to get British Citizenship through her as far as I know. I'm not even allowed to get an ancestry visa because I don't come from a Common Wealth Country. However my mother is setting up a hotel business in the UK very soon. She plans to buy a hotel and to run it. Is there any chance she can sponsor me and hire me at her hotel? I have a diploma in Hotel management and I'm fluent in English. I just want to know if she can sponsor me to work in her hotel in the UK or even just Sponsor me as being part of her family while she is working in the UK.
I do not believe any code of practise is at the required skill level for hotel work. Check the codes of practise:Mensur wrote:I was born before January 1st 1983 and I wasn't born in British Commonwealth country. Spouses and minor children, yes. But chain immigration has been broken. I can't see it if you are able to support yourself and live independently (as you presumably already are). You are above the age of 31 (born before 1983), so you are not a minor, nor are you a 'dependent.'Mensur wrote:Oh I see what your saying, but can't I just be sponsored by my British mum as a family member? Many people who come to work in the UK bring their non EU parents, spouses, children and other family members...can't I get a visa that way?
Mensur wrote:Yeah what you say is very true, However wasn't there this Surinder Singh loophole that British citizens married to Non EU citizens have been taking advantage of. As far as I understand it, these couples as a result of the European freedom of movement, move to mainland Europe, where the British spouse works there for three months in order to exercise her treaty rights. Now I know they are husband and wife, but can my mum do something similar with her being my mother? Or does this not apply?
