Can a tier 2 dependent visa open a limited company ?

Hi, I working as a consultant for a major firm in the US. I am moving to UK as a dependent on my husband's Tier 2 General visa. I would like to continue working with the same firm. They have already agreed for me to work from the UK. Can I start a limited company and work for my firm as an independent contractor. If so is there any place where I can understand process and costs better ?
