Spousal Sponsorship and Previous cancer and inadmissiblity

Post by frk56 » Sat Mar 16, 2019 2:59 pm

Hi, I'm Canadian, about to undertake sponsorship of Japanese wife.

She was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma cancer in August 2017. She had a mastectomy in October 2017, no spread to any lymph nodes was detected. Full remission, no other symptoms or treatment after surgery. She's going for checkups every 6 months and there's nothing happening, looks totally gone!

But on other forums, I see a couple people saying that CIC "rule" is that cancer has to be in remission for 5 years before they would give Permanent Residence.

Like someone please tell me this is not so and where the heck are these people quoting this information from?!
