Changing employment on tier 2 visa after 2.5 months of working

Post by rebeccanlidy » Sat Mar 02, 2019 1:16 pm

Hey all,

I started my job in mid dec 2018 and i recently received an offer to join another firm that is willing to sponsor my visa. I'm on a tier 2 general. Since i applied for a tier 2 general only 2.5 months ago, is there a time period i need to stay with my current firm before applying for another visa with the new firm?

If i join another firm and get a new visa do i have to pay the full IHS again (1.2k pounds) and not get a refund?

Thank you so much! :D

No. The new employer needs to ensure that they have completed the full and proper RLMT though.

You have to pay again. No guarantee you will get a refund.

Thank you so much for your help! May i also know if there is a timeframe for CoS to be issue again under my name? As i know that if Company A issues you a CoS, you can't get a CoS from any other company in 90 days. Not sure if that applies to approved Visa.

Change of sponsor and visa approved, does it mean current visa is suspended?

Post by rebeccanlidy » Sun Mar 03, 2019 4:16 am

Hey all,

If my tier 2 general visa for a new sponsor gets approved, does it mean that my current visa with my current firm will automatically be suspended on the date the new visa starts? What if i'm intending to tender but have to give a 3 months notice, and the new visa start date is during the notice period?

Thank you :)

Officially the start date on your change of employer new tier 2 visa is the cut off point. You can only work for you new Sponsor from that date and you can no longer work for your current sponsor.

As for notice period - there is no exemptions under the immigration rules to account for notice period. How you deal with that is entirely up to you.
