Child benefit Claimed whilst on FLR M

Hi
My husband have applied my FLR M extension and I am due to give finger prints on 8th jan.
My husband is British citizen and we have 2 children also British citizens .

He thought child benefit is not public funds and getting for 2 years .

Now he realised its public funds . He is also my sponsor . We both earn together £22000/year .

I did not declare on the application form that I or my sponsor claimed child benefit .

Can anyone give advice what to do ? Should we write covering letter saying that it was an mistake. ?

A British citizen can claim child benefit for children.

Why not?

He claimed in his own name, a British citizen claiming for British children; that's ok.
