Child's First Passport from outside (already citizen)

Post by ow33 » Thu Dec 25, 2025 12:08 pm

Hi,
I have ILR (T1 200k route). My child was born in the uk before my ILR. now when i received my ILR i applied for citizenship of my child while she was abroad.
She just received approval and certificate of citizenship few days ago. Now i need to apply for her first passport from outside (Pakistan).
I see that the timeline is around 24 weeks (mentioned on gov website). while i want to bring my family to uk as early as possible.. is there any way i can get them in uk without having to apply for her passport and once she is here in uk, then i can apply for her passport?
something like temporary travel document or anything else?
or do i have apply for her passport from pakistan and wait for it before they can travel?
please advice.
much appreciated.
thanks

Does child have a Pakistani passport?
You could apply for a "right-of-abode certificate-of-entitlement" which goes into foreign passports and proves you have right of abode in the UK and can enter without any further documentation. With that she can enter the UK and apply for a passport in the UK .
Refer to this UK govt. link: https://www.gov.uk/right-of-abode/apply ... ntitlement
They quote 8 weeks for processing.

Then it will be much quicker for you to obtain a ROA on child's existing Pakistani passport and then apply for her British passport once she is in the UK.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.

so that would be additional £600.. some questions though..
as i am (father) is in uk.. do i apply for her from here? or does her mother (in pakistan) apply for here from there?
also for how long is the ROA valid for?
thanks.

Apply in Pakistan.

ROA is valid for however long the childs passport is valid for.
Char (CR001 not Casa)
