Dependent Visa - early application

Post by sh_parag » Sun Jul 09, 2023 6:11 pm

Hello,

I arrived in the UK in February 2023 on Skilled Worker Visa. My wife and children will join me in the early part of next year to avoid any disruption to studies. My question is, can I begin the process of obtaining dependent visas for them now, even though they won't be able to travel until March 2024? The purpose is to ensure that their continuous residence in the UK reaches the five-year mark without any further delays, leading to eligibility for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).

If the above option is not possible, how early I can begin their visa process considering they travel in Mar'24?

Thank you in advance.

It won't work. They get an initial visa in the passport of 90 day validity to facilitate travel.

Their absence for ilr based on 5 years residence is no more than 180 days in ANY rolling 12 month period.

If you get ilr, they can simy extend their visas till they meet the requirements for ilr.

Thank you for your prompt response. I will take into consideration the 90-day visa validity period when planning their travel.
