Your ILR route is completely irrelevant. Citizenship is based on the last 5 years or 3 years if married to a British citizen. How long more than that you have been in the UK is irrelevant.I am applying through 10 10-year ILR,
can I apply for citizenship as soon as I receive my ILR?
No.or do I have to wait for one year?
Correct. The route to ILR is completely irrelevant. To apply for citizenship immediately, you simply need ILR and must be married to a British Citizen. That is it.Thanks a lot for your response. So if I get the ILR through long residency and I am married to a British citizen I can apply for citizenship without waiting for another year? So it should not be through the family route for immediate eligibility?
What is the question about this extract? It is quite clear. This link:
https://www.gov.uk/british-citizenship
It says: To apply for citizenship with ILR you must usually have lived in the UK for 12 months after getting it.
To apply as the spouse or civil partner of a British citizen you must have lived in the UK for the last 3 years.
You’ll also need to have either:
indefinite leave to remain (ILR)
settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme
If you do, you’ll be eligible to apply for citizenship immediately.
