Documentation confirming visa application

Post by Mchan » Tue Feb 16, 2016 4:08 am

Hello,

We are in the process of applying for a visa for my Japanese husband, and we want Lancaster Council to do a survey on our accomodation in England which we can include in the aplication. However, Lancaster Council wants official proof from somewhere "like the British High Commission" that we are in the process of applying for a visa. They don't seem to know that high commissions and so on don't deal with visas any more. The British Embassy in Tokyo refuses to answer visa-related questions, and the UK visas enquiry service says "With regards to your query, as we are a general enquiries service for UK Visas and Immigration, we are unable to adsvise you what documents you would be required to provide your local council with."

Does anyone know where I can get this elusive documentation?

Thanks in advance and best wishes,
jh

You don't have to do the survey done by the council.
You can do it by any properly registered estate agent. I think they will charge 150 plus vat.

A property inspection report is not mandatory to submit either.
