Ease of immigration to countries in Europe and N. America

As someone who finds UK immigrations rules incredibly complex, covering every conceivable eventuality and ever changing (there must be a large army of civil servants full time on changing UK immigration rules and on a monthly basis!) I often wonder if the UK is about the most difficult or time consuming country in western Europe and North America (US and Canada) to enter legally. There is another army, of immigration lawyers, built up precisely because the UK immigration system is so complex.

I'm thinking of the situation where my spouse from outside the EU or EEA wants to join myself, a UK citizen, and without any children or other family members involved.

Is the UK really the hardest and/or the most complicated country to get into legally, as I sometimes feel must be the case?

No it is not, there are other countries more difficult. As we have explained, in step by step process, in your numerous topics you keep starting, it is relatively simple and straightforward if you meet the requirements. I am not sure what exactly it is you are finding so complex?
