You will find very detailled instructions through this UKBA webpage in the application form, guidance notes and checklist. What to include will necessarily very much depend on your personal circumstances. I strongly recommend to read through these documents (you'll have to do that with the application form anyway) and make your own judgement (some people here seem to have a tendency to send totally irrelevant and useless documents for peace of mind).

applied 23rd of March, received by 24th of March. No RC yet. However they requested additional docs on 23rd of June which were submitted the 27th. Thats almost 3 weeks and we had supplied them with a special delivery return envelope, so return post shouldnt be an issue here. I sincerely hope they get things done.

Received by HO on 28 April. Really hope they're doing April applications now, as there's an overdue trip to the in-laws.

finally received the RC endorsed in the passport. Here my timeline.

1) Application sent: 23/03/2011; received by UKBA 24/03/2011

2) COA received: 13/04/2011; dated 06/04/2011

3) Made passport return for EEA national on 14/06/2011 due to travel for work, said will send by 28/06/11

4) Received UKBA request for additional evidence i.e. wage slips and/or letter from employer on 25/06/2011, dated 23/06/11.

5) additional documents sent on 27/06/11 by special delivery.

6) Further enquiry about passport return on 04/07/2011, they did not even dispatch it. send another request asking for urgent return by fax.

7) 15/07/2011 received residence card issued on 06/07/2011

Really seems like the passport return request no matter whether the applicants or the EEA nationals may speed things up a bit especially if 3 months have passed. Good luck everyone!

Sure looks like there is a difference in most of early march applications. People are waiting and there seems not to be any correspondence from HO!
Relax! and this too shall pass, secrets are like seasons, they change.

Anyone has requested passport return before the application process is completed? How long will it take to get back my passport in soonest time?
