13/02/2012: Application submitted
14/02/2012: Application received by HO
07/03/2012: Passport requested for urgent business trip
12/03/2012: Passport received together COA in same envelope

Does anyone have any experience with regards to sending the passport back for the visa to be attached? I have seen from some timelines that the passports were sent back to the applicants but not that they were ever again requested back by the HO.

No further news from HO yet, I sent an e-mail this morning.

Timeline Application

13/02/2012: Application (EEA4) submitted cost me £16. Send by special delivery next day £8 and prepaid envelope £8. (My EEA2 will expiry 12 July 2012.)

17/03/2012: Received back all documents and letter from HO dated 14 March 2012 (because i sent without original passport, only copy passport +copy of RC (EEA2) and sign, stamp by bank officer, based on information in the forum and it doesn't work!!!)
I heard before, that if i sent all document without original passport, HO will consider missing document and they will ask to send original passport later on, and actually they sent me back all documents and i have to do it again as new application. FYI, I really need my passport because i am travelling a lot.

18/03/2012: Send back all documents with passport, again cost me £15, special delivery next day £7.5 and prepaid envelope for return £7.5.

09/04/2012: Still waiting letter either HO or COA.

What made you think you could apply without sending your passport?

I think perhaps you perhaps misunderstood sending your passport with your initial application and asking for it back.

I see where you got your information. Let others learn from your experience. You need to submit the passport with the application. You can ask for the passport back immediately to allow you to travel.

Ok, it might be worth posting your experience in the thread that you sent the link to earlier. I've replied to it so it will be near the top now.

I've just realised that the thread you'd found is under immigration for other family members.

eea3 & eea4

Post by anp » Tue Apr 10, 2012 8:47 am

I am planning to submit EEA3 & EEA4 applications altogether. Should I send them in the same envelope? If so, at which address??

UK Border Agency
European Applications EEA3
PO Box 306
Dept 110
Liverpool
L2 0QN

Or???

UK Border Agency
European Applications EEA4
PO Box 306
Dept 110
Liverpool
L2 0QN

I know it's a technicality, but just need to be sure.

I sent mine to

European Applications EEA3 & EEA4
PO Box 306

I thought this way they know what is in the envelope before even look into it. :P

Anyway, the EEA3 always get processed first I guess.
Anyone got better idea?

Also, when applying for EEA3 & EEA4, is it required to have Comprehensive Sickness Insurance if my partner (EEA national) has been working full-time (NI nr) and is registered with NHS & GP?

If EEA national has been working (exercising treaty rights) then they do NOT have to buy CSI, this is needed when the EEA National is economically not active i.e. studying, home maker etc.

By the way I just want to add.

I got married February 2008. And before that was on Student visa with my partner so HO has counted the year spend as a Student with my wife in the 5 year eligibility time.

Anyone else in the same situation should apply I suppose to save an extra year waiting for PR.

Hi cutepearl,
Congratulations mate, so in your words the time before marriage still counts toward 5 years PR as long as you lived together in a durable relation(doesn't matter what visa you was holding at that time) and your spouse was exercising the treaty right.
No more talking about 2 years cohabit before a durable relationship?
Am I right?,,,,,,,it is a good news from you.
Thanks for respond.

Hello mate.
I think that's what the situation was in my case. As I said I was a student and married only 4 years so they did count the 1 year of student. And yes I have a residence card issued in Suptember 2008 which is expiring next year in September.

Applied for EEA4 on 24/02/2012.
HO received on 27/02/2012.
Refusal received on 16/08/2012 dated 11/08/2012
At the court, the HO REP withdrawn the decision and asked me to send the DOC for the time before marriage.
PR dated 05/03/2013
