Hi everyone,
I am an Australian citizen currently living and working in the UK on a Tier 5 YMS visa that expires in 2020. My partner is English and we have been together since May 2016, with plans to get married in the next few months.
I have been employed full time since I arrived in the UK in April this year, earning about £15000 a year. My partner is employed at the same place and he earns the same amount of money, so we safely clear the £18600 threshold. However, our contracts at our place of employment end at the beginning of November. We are planning on obtaining subsequent employment straight away.
My question relates to how my employment history might affect my FLR(M) application, which we plan to submit almost immediately after we are married. Do we need to have been employed by the same employer for 6 months when we make the application? A letter from our current employer will state that we are employed on a fixed term contract basis, ending in November this year. Should we be aiming to submit the application before we end our employment there?
My subsequent job will likely be a zero hours contract, but will be on an ongoing basis. Perhaps it will be better to wait until i have secured the next job, so the letter from my employer will say that I am employed on an ongoing basis? If that is the case, do the payslips from my employment over the last 6 months become irrelevant?
Any help or guidance is very much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Laura
