Financial Requirement for FLR

Post by Kuchiness » Thu Aug 20, 2015 1:13 pm

Hello all,

I looked everywhere but I can't seem to find any useful information. My husband will be applying for his FLR to get his next 30 months spouse visa next year. If our combined earnings is not enough, instead of using this, can we show cash savings abroad? Obviously the currency wouldn't be £. Do they care if the cash savings is in the UK or elsewhere. The account would be under one of our names. And if this is acceptable by the Home Office, what's the minimum £ equivalent amount should we have in abroad cash savings account?

Thanks in advance

Basically, the requirements for the extension were the same as the initial application. Cash savings (anywhere), if held for 6 months or more (blah blah), can be used to make up the shortfall...

Hello and thank you for your reply. That 'anywhere' part is the part that I want to make sure. Where is this information coming, that I couldn't find in UKBA website.

I have a new question relating to this and my apologies if it has already been answered elsewhere.

I was offered a new part time job yesterday as a nanny and my income jointly with my husband will exceed the required £18600 a year. The thing is the family I'll be working for is not keen to pay my tax( my tax is the family's responsibility not mine) so they will just transfer the weekly wage to my account. This means that I have something to show that I'm getting paid but I won't be able to provide pay slips for the HO. I can also provide a letter confirming my employment from my employer. Do you know that this will be okay or is pay slip a must ?

Thank again

You must submit payslips as well as a letter from your employer for the same reasons your employers are trying to avoid!

So I read the link 1.7, there is a lot of info for the first visa and the Indefinite Remain but not much for FLR.

We are going to apply for FLR. If we want to show cash savings only and not any salary, then does the first £16000 taken into account?

Thanks again

The savings route is over £62,500 held in an accessible account for 6 months.

Thank you for your prompt answer. So that bit is clear now.

And if we put our savings into a National bonds account(abroad) and if it's accessible and can be redeem any time, will is be acceptable. I mean does it count as 'cash savings'? It's actually a bond but can be converted into cash instantly.

Last question, if I want to call the home office to ask all these questions, do they have a helpline number?

Thanks again

Don't think bonds count as cash savings because bonds are not cash.

The helpline is notoriously wrong on some pretty basic facts. You really need to ask questions here, hire a lawyer or find the rules yourself...

Thank you physicskate. It's just shocking that the Home Office gives you wrong answers. No point in calling them then.

FLR financial requirement question

Post by Kuchiness » Thu Feb 11, 2016 12:26 pm

Hi guys,

Just confused about employment status for eligibility.
I'm British and working part time as an employee. My husband is on his first spouse visa and self employed. I know we need to prove income of £18600 together and we get just over this amount. Since my husband is self employed, his income is not stable. It varies each month. Will this be acceptable to Home office or should we think about showing savings on the side just to be sure? How does this work with self employment?( His company is less than 3 months old and we will aply for his FLR in 6 months from now).

Thank a lot

Working for a company based abroad for FLR(M)

Post by Kuchiness » Mon Feb 15, 2016 8:35 pm

Hello all,

Does anyone know if living in the UK while working for a company based abroad ( working from home in the UK) is accepted as employment for meeting FLR(M) financial requirement? I can't find any info on the gov website about this.

Thanks
