Basically, the requirements for the extension were the same as the initial application. Cash savings (anywhere), if held for 6 months or more (blah blah), can be used to make up the shortfall...Kuchiness wrote:Hello all,
I looked everywhere but I can't seem to find any useful information. My husband will be applying for his FLR to get his next 30 months spouse visa next year. If our combined earnings is not enough, instead of using this, can we show cash savings abroad? Obviously the currency wouldn't be £. Do they care if the cash savings is in the UK or elsewhere. The account would be under one of our names. And if this is acceptable by the Home Office, what's the minimum £ equivalent amount should we have in abroad cash savings account?
Thanks in advance

The savings route is over £62,500 held in an accessible account for 6 months.Kuchiness wrote:So I read the link 1.7, there is a lot of info for the first visa and the Indefinite Remain but not much for FLR.
We are going to apply for FLR. If we want to show cash savings only and not any salary, then does the first £16000 taken into account?
Thanks again
Don't think bonds count as cash savings because bonds are not cash.Kuchiness wrote:Thank you for your prompt answer. So that bit is clear now.
And if we put our savings into a National bonds account(abroad) and if it's accessible and can be redeem any time, will is be acceptable. I mean does it count as 'cash savings'? It's actually a bond but can be converted into cash instantly.
Last question, if I want to call the home office to ask all these questions, do they have a helpline number?
Thanks again
