First Child Passport

Post by Tito1985 » Wed Feb 08, 2023 7:01 pm

Hello All,

I have applied for my son's passport after naturalisation and it has been now 24 days and the application status is "send your documents", I have called them but the only reply I got is, they are investigating. The documents have been sent to Hemel Hempstead HMPO and I don't know what else I can do. The documents have been signed as delivered on Royal mail but I have the feeling that they have been lost at the HMPO.

Could you please advice ?

Does not necessarily mean lost or misplaced. They receive a lot amd might not have being updated status.

Thanks for your reply, the problem for me that I have sent my wife's application at the same day and we have her passport now but for my son it hasn't been confirmed at least that they have got the documents. I have seen the timeline for several applications and the scanning phase shouldn't take more than 2 weeks.

Each passport application is treated differently. Same time doesn't mean you'd receive them same day. It could take up to 6 weeks in some cases.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Yes I know, my only concern why the scanning process took this long time, normally it should take 2 weeks then may be the application can take several weeks to be approved, I couldn't imagine what can be happened if the documents are lost but I hope this is can be rare as they have been signed as delivered.

You are overthinking and being paranoid. Just wait patiently. Updates are not immediate, they can take a while.
