Forgot to send payment for my child passport application

Post by newhill70 » Mon Apr 04, 2016 9:55 pm

Hi I sent my child passport application by royal mail special delivery and now realize tonight that i forgot to include the payment. Can anyone advise what is the best option for me as I do have travel arrangement for my family in 6 weeks.

Many thanks

If lucky you'll be invited to pay up; not sure if that's an option or whether application will simply be bounced straight back to you.

You could have used Check&Send and nipped this unnecessary type of delay in the bud.

thanks for the reply I really hope they will call and should have used check & send but decided against it after my wife check and send application was done last week they confirmed it was not next day delivery and decided it would be better doing daughters passport by special delivery so it will get there quicker but when i got to the PO it was gone 5pm and the PO assistance confirmed it will not be posted until next day. I am thinking will it still be possible to ask them for it back at 9am tomorrow.

Now the package is now inside the Royal Mail system they may not give it back to you.

That happened to me once when, by mistake, I sent off a visa application on an old version of the form.
The post office manager (after a lot of persuasion) finally compromised with me, went and found the package yet literally held onto it with both hands whilst I cut it open and exchanged the old form for the updated form.

Hi I want to update that today at 8am my wife called HMPO and they advise to wait for a letter with instructions on how to send the payment as the barcode for the application was not on the system so the good news for those who forget to send payment for passport applications is that they will not return the application and will notify you by post with instructions on how to pay. well the good news is I then decided to see if I could get an opportunity to retrieve the special delivery postage at the post office at 9am, the manager at first declined my request as it is now the property of royal mail but after confirming that I have the receipt and know who took my application, the manager then agreed to get my postage application in less than 1 minute of waiting they found the letter and I was asked to hand over the payment form and was told they would insert it inside for me.
Many thanks to all who posted and thanks to noajthan for sharing your experience you gave me the confident to go for it at the Post Office and praised God Amen
