You don't need to send your BRP as the application say it clearly DO NOT SEND YOUR BRP. I hope it helps.

Re: Convention Travel Documents Application - After ILR

Post by da09aam » Sat Aug 25, 2018 12:17 pm

Hi all,

I have a question following the grant of ILR and wondering if anyone previously in a similar situation can help.

I applied in on 22/05/18 and was granted ILR on 15/08/2018 stating Refugee Settlement and Indefinite Leave to Remain in the remarks.

I am now looking to apply for a travel document so I can travel around. I am slightly confused as to apply for the (Blue - £75)) travel document which would be the same as to what I had during the 5 years before my application for ILR OR apply for a Travel Certificate (black - £280).

I would appreciate your help.

Thanks

Hi, You apply for the same one (Blue). Since you now have ILR the new document will likely be valid for 10 years

To be honest I am also not aware which is quickest as I am also applying and it's my first TD applications and I 'll do the paper form. But going through the time lines if you renewing then it's not a longer process as compare to applying first time.

Hi If you do the application online there will be a list of items they need from you at the end when you print it off.

Just put EU countries, on both renewals i've put that and no problems. Obviously DON'T put your country of origin as a place you want to visit!

which line do you guys join when you arrive in an EU country and which line do you join when arriving back to UK?

For me as follows:

Spain - on entry used the machine reader in EU line, no problems. On exit checked by officer
Portugal - EU line, no problems

UK- East Mids - eu/uk line no probs, asked for BRP card
UK- Luton - eu/uk line, no probs, asked for BRP card
UK - Birmingham - tried the machine reader in eu/uk line, machine says seek assistance, told to go to non eu line fill out landing card. Lucky i was only person  asked for BRP and finger print scanner.

Hello there crossing the border for me wasn’t a problem I went Portugal they just looked at my passport asked how long I was staying & that’s it, leaving Portugal I was asked for my brp. Then when I got back to the uk I was asked to fill out a landing card and my fingers prints was taken.

Finally received TD today!

Timeline:
Applied: 11/04/2018
Received TD: 16/07/2018

Holidays waiting for me))))

Good luck for everyone who still waiting TD.
If you don't mind me asking, are you from Ukraine? Did they give you a blue passport or a black passport? I'm Syrian citizen, I applied for the blue passport, but after about 3.5 months, they said no and asked me to apply for a black passport because I'm not a refugee in the UK.

Is there anyway I can get a blue passport?! the black passport is not accepted nearly everywhere
I am from Ukraine! I received blue passport as I have refugee stateless.
My daughter, She was born in the UK, received black passport as She is non-refugee person but black passport doesn't recognise by EU countries. That black passport valid for Egypt, Dominican Rep., Aruba (we travel to that countries).
What other countries accept the black passport? This is the one I have applied for.

Hi, any further info on what other counties accept the black TD?

Hi guys I already sent out my application to renew my travel document and unfortunately I discovered I made a mistake on section 3, 3.5. I mistake 2013 to 2018 and forget to write my recent fingerprint taken for my Indefinite leave to remain application.
Please anyone in similar situation or have an Idea on what I can do please to avoid home office rejecting the application. Thanks
