Dual Nationality, which one to use??

Hi there

A friend of mine has recently moved to the UK and is looking for a job. He has a question, what nationality shall he use for job applications or even opening up bank accounts since he holds dual nationality (US & British)??
Any help would be appreciated.

If you had a ticket for the New York subway and a ticket for the Tube, which one would you use for a journey on the Tube?
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.
