New Indian Passport - BRP NTL Transfer from ILR

Post by Prem » Mon Feb 12, 2018 5:29 pm

Hi all,

Back for some help, my wife has been in the UK since September 2009, she came from India on a 2 year spousal visa, and then received ILR in 2011.

Her Indian passport is expiring in soon, I'm wondering what her options are. She doesn't want a British passport, after reading the forum I believe she has to apply for a new Indian passport once received she will then have to send off for a BRP NTL Visa.

She is currently working, so she needs the BRP and can't rely on her ILR.
Can you confirm is correct or what other options we have please?

Thanks,
Prem

If she holds a BRP card already, there is no need to apply for another one if she renews her passport.

If an employer had checked the valid documents from List A, then there's no requirement to recheck.

Thanks for the reply CR001, she does not currently hold a BRP, all she has is her ILR in current passport which expires early next year.

Thanks Vinny always a voice of wisdom, once our youngest daughter starts going nursery (Sept 2019), my wife will look to go back to full time employment, and for that she will need to show her new Indian passport showing BRP NTL, is my understanding.

Yes. Current employers won't need to recheck, assuming that they had properly checked her at the beginning. However, new employers would require valid documents.
