Grad visa switch to SWV - switch employer

Post by brian122040 » Mon Feb 12, 2024 10:23 am

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working for company A on a graduate visa, and I have recently got a new job at company B which will sponsor my skilled worker visa. I’ve handed in my notice, and I was just wondering if I can still legally work for company A if I apply for SWV now and get approved before my last day?

From my understanding, my current visa will be automatically invalid once my new visa is approved. However, I’ve heard that as long as I’m in my notice period it will be fine. I can only find this rule under ‘changing employers under SWV’, so was hoping if anyone can confirm if this also applies to switching from grad visa to SWV?

Thank you!

You can still work for your current employer as your current visa remains valid.

Simply submitting a different visa application doesn't invalidate your current visa.

Thanks for your reply! I understand that submitting a new application will not invalid my current visa. My concern is that if my new application get approved when I am still with my current employer, will I be able to legally continue my work until my last day?

Thank you so much for your reply! Do you know if there's any documents/websites from gov.uk that I can find this info? Just for future reference.
