How to get an update on status of Visa?

Hi I applied for social visa 4 weeks ago, the TLS company said I would get a result in 15 days. UKGoV website says 3 weeks. Now 4 weeks has elapsed. I have the TLS tracking app, but it only has 4 stages of progress, and mine is stuck between 2 and 3, so its still at the DMC.
I need the passport back, so I tried calling the international number on the ukgov website which is 79p per hour, there is a very long intro which only relates to people in afghanistan, then I selected option 2, then option 1 for status update.
The automated voice says please wait the elapsed time before trying to call, then it says "thanks for calling" and hangs up.
But at this point I had not even identified myself or given any info. And I HAVE waited the elapsed time.

I really need some update because I am trying to arrange travel.

What is a "social visa" exactly??

just your basic tourist visa. A visa for holiday or to visit family/friends. Most countries call this a social pass.

Most countries all it a tourist or visitor visa.

There are delays at present for visitor visas.

Obviously there are delays, I am one of them. I was not informed of delays at the time of submitting biometrics, there was nothing on the phone call that explained about delays and theres nothing on the website about delays. The question is how do I get more informatinon.
