ILR AND LIFE IN THE UK

Post by daddyyluv » Thu Jan 06, 2022 10:02 pm

Good evening everyone

Please my friend needs your help/advise.
She is British with two children, currently pregnant for the 3rd and her partner (unmarried but been together for 8years) is Egyptian. He was illegal until they applied for his first 2years 6months visa as unmarried partner (10years route because of finance) then they renewed his visa this time they moved to 5years route (they met the financial requirements). Her partner previously passed Life in the UK test 12years ago when he was trying to regularise his stay before he met her (but it never worked as he kept getting refused).

Questions
1) can her partner apply for ILR after his current visa runs out knowing he has already stayed legally under the partner route for 5 years(combination of 10years route 2years 6months and 5 years route 2 years 6months)? Or will he need to complete 5years on the 5years route to qualify for ILR?

2) there is a 2 years partner route if they can't apply for ilr with the above, can they switch to 2 years route and apply for ILR after?

3) will he need to write life in the UK test again?

Apologies if this post is in the wrong place. I look forward to your replies please.

Many thanks and happy new year

1. He needs 5 years on the 5 year route before he can apply for ilr. LIYK test doesnt expire

2. There is no 2 route anymore and hasn't been since 9th july 2012
