Hi,
Making the application for Naturalisation and on the list of supporting documents is proof of freedom from immigration time restrictions.
Somewhere I read it should be your biometric Residence Permit and the letter granting ILR.
We cannot find a letter granting the ILR, but have the 'Notes accompanying the BRP' and a letter from the Home Office that details that the BRP will be sent under separate cover etc etc and that we have to return the old BRP. It does not mention anywhere that ILR has been granted. We cannot remember any other letters from the Home Office. Suggestions?
Is this a bit of a red herring any way?... as it seems that the BRP is sufficient. Please confirm (as I trust your advise on these boards more that I trust the customer services of Her Majesty).
Finally, could I confirm a couple of things?
1. We do not need to send letters etc as proof of living in the UK - the passport will suffice? Do we need to send the first passport in my wife's maiden name showing original entry to the UK and travel outside since that point (replaced 17/2/15).
2. I am correct is saying that as this is a Spouse pathway, the important date of being in the UK is THREE years before the application and NOT 5 years. My wife was here 3 years ago but we were out of the country if it was the 5 year date.
3. Whilst I have read NOT to include documents not requested, with bad experiences during the Visa applications, should we be providing evidence of paying tax etc - per the application form - so my wife has several years of Tax returns.
(sorry if over asking, but don't want to lose more money and valuable time on applications)
