has anyone received an acknowledgment letter from HO? I attended Croydon PEO on 3/07 and was told they would contact me in 2 days when they would have sorted out the computer problems. Like many others, I heard nothing till yesterday when I received an acknowledgement letter from them, no documents, no passport.

Has anyone received a similar letter?
Wow really? What did it say?!?!?! I hadn't been told I would get an acknowledgement letter and haven't received one.

I just managed to speak to someone who works in one of the departments of the Liverpool office. Although she wasn't able to help me or give me any other contact infor (she said there were no actual contact numbers or faxes for the right department-very secretive) she was totally horrified with our situation and said she might try and walk over to the department and try and help me. She took my number.

I doubt anything will come of this but if it does I will certainly share. She was EXTREMELY helpful and couldn't believe the situation and said she would be LIVID if she were me. God bless the north! They are such lovely lovely people!

I have also send complaint emails directly to the Home Office, Alerted Channel 4 News and have been trying to ring The Citizens Advise bureau all day but there is nobody available. Govenment cuts!!

Have a great weekend all!!
Can you PM me the number as well. The more people file the complain to her, the quicker our application will be looked at.

Thanks a bunch.

Well it said something along the lines of that my application had been received, they were looking into it and would contact when they were done with enquiries. Dis not mention what enquiries or how long it would take. So the wait continues.

I really don't want to take advantage of this nice lady who works in a different department and may very likely not be able to help at all. If anything comes back then I'll let you know and then more people can call. I'm sorry I hope you find this acceptable but I think it's in everyone's best interest to keep these people on our sides rather than overwhelming them when it's not their fault (in Liverpool).

Now I am freaking out that somone has received a letter, and nobody else has.

Was that letter from the Croydon Office? It is incredible that some people have had their answers, some people have heard nothing, some people have got heir BRP and others have had nothing. We better get a refund.

Dear all
Stay cool and calm.
Nothing to do but I am having appointment with one of leading immigration solicitor named Dr Malik from Malik law chambers who is having many years of experience to fight against UKBA for their clients, I am going to him to discuss our scenario to find his views and suggestions.
Already raise our issue with our local MP .
Let us see the outcome.
keep updating from yours end.

Do let us know what this solicitor says, but if you look at the UKBA website, they actually don't guarantee Premium appointments will be processed on the same day, they work to a service standard of 90% of cases within 24 hours. So we must be the 10%. This has happened before and I'm sure they are covering themselves.
They also say not to book any travel without getting your passport back, so should my trips in September be affected I doubt I'll even be able to get compensation.

Hopefully the Solicitor can say if we have a right to a refund/money back.

What is probably affecting us is The Olympics. They must have a million visas to process and short staffed.

As one of the agents said the they were not providing information for cases outstanding for less than 2 weeks on Premium, I am hoping that means that 2 weeks is the approximate wait time. That means this coming week may be the lucky week.

Enjoy your sunday everyone, I see the sun shining so that has to be a good thing!!!

My current visa expires on 18 August. What will be my status if I don't get my passport/ decision back from UKBA by then? Can anyone advise please?

Hi all,

I found the below information regarding service standard times for PEO applications from Oct 11 - Mar 12. The information was asked for as a request using the freedom of information act.

http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/croydon_peo

I have mine sorted now, and it was actually done in a couple of days (even though they didn't notify me of this!) so I realise I'm one of the lucky ones and don't have anything to complain about. But I thought that if any of you are going to formally complain, it's interesting that these statistics show that the PEO applications are being answered in a timeframe well below the service standards advertised.

I wonder if knowing that on average, only 74% of PEO applications are being decided within 24 hours, whether some people may decide the extra £400 for the premium service isn't worth it.

Advertising that 90% of PEO applications are done within 24 hours sounds like false advertising to me. We paid an additional £400 in the hope we were one of the 90% when in fact it's only 74% that get done in this time frame. Or at least, that was between October & March - perhaps someone should make a similar request for the 6 months to now and check the stats for that.

Hope this may give you all a bit of weight to your complaints. But most importantly, I hope you all get your decisions very, very soon!

Hi,

Just to let you people know, I too applied in person at the Croydon PEO on 3rd July. I had to also leave my docmnents and application due to IT issue. I applied on a SET(O) application.

The good news is that I've today received a letter from UKBA (liverpool) stating that I should get my BRP in the post in the next seven days.

The Letter form UKBA was dated 12th July.

I am sure you guys should also be receiving your letters in the post very soon.

This is good news, a glimmer of hope for us all with files in Liverpool. Have you received passport and docs? I assume you had a favourable decision letter if your BRP card is on the way?

Congrats!!

Yes, I received all the docs and the passports. In fact after I had made my initial post, I've also received the BRP via courier.

Don't despair, I am sure you'll have your good news in the post soon.

Hi guys,

thought id let you all know that like jcdragon - went home last night and found a royal mail special delivery pack lying at my door (not impressed with that though!!) but luckily all was in there - my documents, passport and letter from HO stating BRP should follow in 5-7 working days!!

I applied at Croydon PEO on 3rd July 15.20 for SET (M), package did come from Liverpool so the info is correct and looks like they started processing the lot there. Letter was dated 13th July.

So all those who are waiting - am very sure its not going to be long now - just hang in there a while longer.

I am still all up for complaining and going to BBC watchdog - will fill it out myself as well. Do keep me posted if anyone gets any lead on taking actions against them for all the incompetence, drama and stress they caused us.

surprising me, though they have started to process the applications, but no news from applicants who applied on 2nd july. I want to listen from somebody who applied on 2nd July as I did.

Virgo I agree with you, I'll feel better when someone from the 2nd finds out, but we must be getting it soon. Maybe it's a first in last out type of arrangement. I'll be posting as soon as I get mine.

I've complained to watchdog, and although I've already complained to UKBA, I will ask for a refund of the charge for Premium service as well. I am trying to talk to someone at office of fair trading as well but that is proving difficult.

kkay are you saying the package was not sent trackable/signed for? it was just left for you with no signature? I find that odd and a bit nerveracking, things can get lost in the post if not trackable!!

I think it might be the case of a last come first serve basis as weird as it sounds - or Liverpool just started going through their lot faster and 2nd july apps might still be in London with a backlog.

But it shouldnt be too long now for you peeps hopefully.

Missgolightly - it was a 'signed for package' delivery that HO used but Royal Mail just decided to leave it at my door step! i dont know if they have any rule about flats with secure entrance that once they get inside they are allowed to leave it at your door but the package hadnt been signed for - so i have a good mind to sue Royal Mail if i can - but at this rate - my life will become all about suing HO and RM for their incompetence and unproffessionalism.

Anyhoo - dont worry too much abt the docs - hopefully it will all be ok.

Thanks kkay for all the info. My file is in Liverpool, this is the only piece of information which my lawyer has been able to confirm for me. So I assume all the cases from the 2nd have also been sent there.

Royal Mail has already come to my office today (where they are meant to deliver) and sadly, nothing for me. I'll keep my spirits high for tomorrow.

hello everyone

i'm afraid i have good news and bad news. I had a call from home office who have sadly told me my indefinite leave hasn't been granted. I am livid and freaking out some dodgy excuse on my continuous residence which they won't accept, which my lawyer can't believe.

in any case i have to frantically apply for an extension to my tier 1 and that should be fine but i'll be without a passport for a while.

anyhow, best of luck to all of you, i need to do deal with this new mess.

i am really sorry to hear that missgolightly - i know how it is to have a mess like that - i had to go through an appeal against rejection for my Work permit visa couple of years ago.

I like your positive attitude - the HO can only give you crappy useless excuses but you know you can set them right! just wish it was simpler though but best of luck with dealing with them - it will all work out hopefully.

I am very sorry to hear about your case. did you get phone call from Liverpool HO or Cryodon Ho? Did you get the display of the phone on your land line or mobile. If you got the number then could you give me that contact number pls.
Best of luck for your extension of Tier 1 application. Be positive you will get through this mess.
