Having 3 criminal convictions could mean anything. Can you at least give us a clue of the nature of those convictions, and the sentences imposed?

WRK5, I have just spent the last 20 minutes looking at the UKBA website, and in particular at the published guidance that UKBA issues to its staff, much of which is readily available on the internet these days.

Whilst there is lots of published guidance about the implications of convictions as regards Naturalisation applications (and if he were able to make a Naturalisation applications at the moment, it would undoubtedly get rejected), I have failed miserably to find any published guidance about convictions on a form such as the SET(M).

If anyone else can find something relevant, then please do post.

WRK5, sorry about this, at this moment in time I really don't know how UKBA will react to those convictions.

Thankyou John for spending so much of your time looking into that for me.I have searched aswell through all websites etc and could not find any relevant info regarding this.

I contacted a lawyer specialising in immigration and they also said that it should not affect his application as its only naturalisation that it will effect.

i was just enquiring as i myself could not find anything and i did wonder if anyone had been in a similar situation.

The benefit situation what are your views on this?Do you think i should just write a letter explaining all ?Better to be honest i feel but scared at same time.

Thanks again

You are British, or at least deemed to be "settled" in the UK. Accordingly your benefit claims cannot possibly have any effect upon the ILR application to be made by your husband.

The convictions .... that is good to hear. But I wonder why they bother to ask about convictions if they then proceed to effectively ignore that information? That does not make sense to me.

Hope it goes well on Thursday.

Exactly that is why it did not ring true to me i just could not understand why they would ask then proceed to ignore.

I understand that i am a british citizen and that i can claim however i claimed as single as i was when we seperated for a period of two months. Now though i do not know wether to disclose this.I have been told conflicting info regarding this. Some have said yes disclose all be honest and others have said give info that they ask for no more and no less. Its so confusing.

Thankyou
