Contacted MP via email: June 8, MP's office replied on June 9 to say they'd made request to Home Office, replied again on July 11 to say still no response from Home Office

Got approval email five months to the day of when the application is sent. As others have said, if you can afford/get a priority slot it is worth it to avoid the hassle/stress of the wait. Good luck everyone.
