Tier 2 visa CoS number

Post by kkcn7260 » Wed Sep 25, 2019 12:51 pm

Hi there,

I am in quite an annoying stage at the moment in terms of the visa application and would really appreciate if there is any professional help.

So I am currently on a Tier 4 student Visa and would be expired on the 21st of October. I have recently got a job on the 28th August 2019. Unfortunately,my company had just realised that the Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) has expired and they have reapplied for it on the same date that I got the job. The CoS would most probably take about 2 to 8 weeks’ time to process in addition to the Tier 2 visa application which would then take another 4 to 8 weeks time (though super-priority services may take one working day).

So my questions are:

1) If the Cos hasn’t reached me before my visa expires, is it possible for me to submit the tier 2 visa application without the CoS number and when they have come to me to ask for the missing info, I could just provide the CoS number in the hope that it has reached me?

2) Followed up on Q1, if I could not submit anything before then, is there any alternative that I can try? (i.e. applying for extensions on my tier 4 visa and switch to tier 2 visa once I have gotten them?)

Thank you very much!

1. No, you need the cos.

2. Not really no.

Why does your sponsor not contact ho help desk and pay the £200 for an urgent cos.

Thank you so much for your reply! I just read about the urgent CoS application but unfortunately, that is only available for restricted certificate which the below 2 categories are in:

-Tier 2 (General) workers currently abroad who’ll be paid less than £159,600 a year and are not in an inward investment post
-family members (dependants) of Tier 4 migrants who are switching to a Tier 2 visa

Since I am currently in the UK, and not a dependant of the migrant, I believe I would be in the unrestricted certificate section. Am I still eligible to apply for the urgent application for unrestricted certificate now?

Thank you!

Does the sponsor not have any CoS available to allocate?

Hi there,

Thank you for shedding some light but I have just got more questions here, would it be possible if I could apply for another urgent CoS number when the application for UCoS has already been submitted days ago?

And also just to understand, the request for faster consideration can only be made via SMS system or email? The manual in the link suggested that you could do it on the SMS system but I have went through the SMS manual over and over again but it does not says how do you amend or request for faster consideration.

Thank you!

they can phone HO to do it and pay by card. Where I work they did this and got the CoS allocations within 24 hours.

Thank you so much, I have tried to get in contact with the HO with the contact number (0300 123 4699) but they have been diverting me and at the end they all ended up hanging up on me, is there any other phone number I can try?

Thanks again, I really appreciate that!

Unclear why you are dealing with this when it is your sponsors level 1 or level 2 user that has to do it. Ho will not speak to you as the sponsored employee regarding the cos.

Good morning, sorry for not clarifying. So my employer could not find the right number to the HO up so I am trying to see if there is anything I can help to help us process that through!

Thanks very much!

The contact details are available on the SMS system for the Business Helpdesk specifically.

Issues on Urgent CoS number application

Post by kkcn7260 » Wed Oct 02, 2019 10:58 am

Hi there,

So my situation is that I am currently waiting for the Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) from my employer. My visa would be ending soon and so I have talked to my employer to apply for a faster consideration on the CoS application. However, apparently they had some previous experience on such situations when they applied for an urgent services, the application for the rest of the CoS number (I am not the only one waiting for the CoS) would be stall. So, our current move is to just wait for the CoS but it has been more than a month and the status on the SMS system still says 'pending'. Just wondering if anyone had any similar experience and if possible, could you tell me how do you go about it please?

Thank you!

Hi Cr001,

With regards to the urgent CoS, we have been contacting the ho but it seemed that the priority services line number can't answer our calls at all. Is there any other way that we could get in touch with them?

Thank you!
