Leaving Job - Help

Hello -

I've voluntarily resigned from my job recently (3 weeks ago).

I understand I'm supposed to receive notification from Home Office that I'm meant to leave the country by a certain date. However, I haven't received this notification as of yet. I've contacted my old manager to ensure my employer had notified UKVI that I was no longer employed - but have not heard back (and not sure I will).

What should I do from here to ensure that UKVI knows of my status and intention to leave the UK?

You don't have to wait for a letter from HO. These curtailment letters can take many months to get sent out, it doesn't happen instantly once your employer has informed HO.

You can simply leave the UK when you are ready to go if it is anytime soon.

I'm planning on leaving relatively soon (in one month). Is there any cool-off period for me to return to the UK as a visitor? Also - if for some reason my employer never informs them - how will they know my status has changed?

Not really, but you would need to convince the IO at the airport that you are a genuine visitor. Not always easy if a person returns soon after being here on a Tier 2.

They have 10 days after your last day to do it, this is part of the sponsor responsibilities. They also do not have to keep you informed if they have done it.

No it won't.

Suggest for your own peace of mind, keep your flight boarding pass and ticket as evidence you left.

Inform HMRC too to close off your tax affairs.
