marriage changes status?

Seeing some posts on getting married to get legitimized, my question is, as long as the immigration status has no change, nobody can stop you from marrying, right? Now, in doing so, the illegal immigrant benefits from his/her partner? say, gets legitimized? And that means is required to leave the UK and re-enter if he can, in the end?

Depends on circumstances but, in any case, only if the marriage is genuine.

In regards to acquisition of a residency status by virtue of marriage , it is not that clear cut. The circumstance are assessed individually and based on their merits.
