marriage changes status?

Post by florecita878 » Fri Aug 14, 2009 5:10 pm

Seeing some posts on getting married to get legitimized, my question is, as long as the immigration status has no change, nobody can stop you from marrying, right? Now, in doing so, the illegal immigrant benefits from his/her partner? say, gets legitimized? And that means is required to leave the UK and re-enter if he can, in the end?

Could you clarify what it is you're asking?

After all the hassle, illegal immigrants get to obtain status thru marriage?

Depends on circumstances but, in any case, only if the marriage is genuine.

OP i am assuming you are referring to the UK immigration rules, in which case you will find that you are in the wrong place.

In regards to acquisition of a residency status by virtue of marriage , it is not that clear cut. The circumstance are assessed individually and based on their merits.

Is your question aimed at opening a debate or to enquire about marriages, as this topic is becoming quite tiresome and frankly speaking not worth the headache attached to it.
