Middle Name

Post by chddrys » Thu Jan 02, 2025 3:21 pm

Hello.

I am applying for naturalisation via 5 year ILR route.

I am from the Philippines and our middle name changes when we get married.

My name on my ILR application includes my middle name (which was my former last name). This is shown on my BRP.

Now, when applying for citizenship, there is no option to add my middle name on the application. Should I just leave it and go by my first and last name. My NI number/ other legal documents has my middle name on it.

If I'm not mistaken, the name you put on the naturalisation will be the one entered on the passport, is that correct?

You must put the name as it is in your foreign passport. Not doing so will delay your application and create issues with a British passport.

Add your middle name after your first name in the form.

Thank you! Will do that. Additionally, my husband who will apply for his ILR has 2 first names. So all his dependent applications only include his 2 first names and surname. His middle name has not been included in his previous applications, when he applies for ILR should he add his middle name??

If husband's middle name is shown in his foreign passport then he should proceed same as you are going to do.
This is a general rule to avoid any issue when apply for a British passport.
