If the applicant is a no-show the first time they should receive a second 'warning' letter;
this letter gives a further period of 10 working days (from date of 2nd letter) in which to enrol the biometrics.
Failing that the application will fail.
As mentioned above, for such a critical step in someone's life, it's probably worth revisiting travels plans or deferring the application.

This page tells you what to do if an applicant fails or refuses to enrol their biometric information or pay the handling fee.
Failure to attend Post Office
If a person who is eligible to enrol their biometric information at a Post Office does not attend a Post Office within 15 working days of the date of their biometric information notification letter, you must send them a ‘biometric appointment warning letter’ this is reference ICD4523 on document generator on CID.
For more information on issuing rejection warning letters, see related link: Main applicant has not enrolled at a Post Office.
If a person is sent a rejection warning letter, they then have a further 17 working days from the date of the warning letter to enrol at a Post Office.
Another case of governmental left-hand / right-handThe rejection warning letter tells the applicant they must enrol at a Post Office, within 10 working days of the date of the letter
Your information is up to date. Now it is 10 working days. Whether 10 days, 15 or 17 days, the conclusion is clear; take it seriously & don't miss that window of opportunity.
