MN1 certifying document

Post by aarnags » Tue Mar 04, 2014 3:09 pm

Hi,

I got my ILR last month and applying MN1 for my UK born child.

I am thinking to send application by post and plan to send these documents.
- my passport/biometric card
- Marriage certificate
- Child passport/Biometric card
-Child Birth certificate

Can I send certify copy of all of the above documents.

Do I need to send any original like child passport/biometric card ?

Thanks

If you are not using NCS to apply, you need to send originals. See Q2 under children section in the link below :

http://www.immigrationboards.com/britis ... 95747.html
Q2: Which documents are needed for registration as BC?

If applying under section 1(3) (child born in the UK to parents who now at least one parent holds ILR), the following documents are required:

- Original full UK birth certificate for the child (with the ILR parent named on it).
- Original child passport (if has one).
- Parent's passport showing ILR / BRP. (photocopies of all pages are accepted)
- Marriage certificate (if child born before 2006).

Hi, If I need to send original then what is the point of certifying the document.

I read in forum someone mention certifying document would be enough.

Can any expert confirm please.

Thanks

The childs documents have to be original, parents passport and BRP can be copies.

Why dont you use NCS to submit the application, that way you get to keep all your original documents as NCS will photocopy everything to send with your application.

You can have the documents certified by a solicitor.

Not just a solicitor, but any notary public and perhaps the post office documents certification service.

If you're not using a PEO for SET(M) you can use the Settlement Checking Service. Otherwise for immigration applications, the applicant needs to send original documents. The sponsor can just send a normal photocopy of their passport/BRP. For nationality, you can send certified copies.

I don't think the PO service is accepted by the HO (although for 1(3) application its an entitlement so might be OK).

I understand what you say Jambo, however, considering they use the PO for biometric enrolment I would think it would be reasonable to accept their certification service. However, you're right I've not seen actual acceptance or refusal of such certification.
