More than 3 months absence b/w applying naturalisation and to apply British passport

Post by euphoria1947 » Mon Oct 20, 2025 2:49 pm

Hi,
I applied to naturalisation in May-2025 and got approval in October-2025. I've got certificate ceremony booked in November-2025. I'm planning to apply to get British passport on the same day .

Now I've a question: After applying for naturalisation in May I went out of country by Mid of May for more than 4 months i.e. I came back to UK only by mid of September. Is this absence going to affect issuing British passport?

There are stamps of entry and exit where I stayed for more than 3month other than that there is no proofs and also in the British passport application they are not asking any period of absence but they are asking to send original passport as a document.

Can anyone let me or point me to the rule section Please? I've been reading haven't reached that point or not seen it is mentioned anywhere about the absence b/w applying to naturalisation, approval and applying to British passport.

thanks

That will be OK, no absence requirements once the application for British citizenship is submitted. It will be wise not to plan any trips before you obtain your new British passport.
