Hi all, not posted here before (I usually post on Canada visa).
Bit of a pickle here and google search not been useful.
I’m a British citizen in Canada on a temporary visa. I’m waiting for my permanent visa. I have a 2 year old Canadian born son who has both passports. His mother is Canadian. We are now separated and I have joint custody and pay support etc.
Here’s the tricky part: I was quite unjustly arrested for a bar fight in Canada. I’m sure I’ll be judged but the truth is I was protecting a woman who was being threatened and was assaulted myself. The guy got a cut to his eyebrow - in Leeds where I’m from no real harm done and the guy was wasted and can’t remember anything however I am facing deportation and it’s been a hellish year.
I should try make back up plans and my question is this, if the worst comes to the worst and I’m deported is there an obvious visa my EX (this is important as we’re not together) can peruse to move to UK so I’m not separated from my son? She loves the UK and would happily come. She has a UK / Canadian child who currently lives in Canada with us.
She’s a teacher if that helps.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
