Naturalisation/Citizenship

Post by akinlufian » Tue Sep 19, 2023 12:07 pm

I am a British Citizen. My 15-year-old daughter was granted her Indefinite Leave to Enter in February 2021 and she joined me in the UK in April 2021.

How soon can I apply for her naturalisation/Citizenship? She has missed twice on school programs abroad because of the time it takes to apply for a visa on her home passport as she could not travel with the rest of the students without a British passport.

Please advise me.

Cheers

What is the immigration status of the other parent?

Thank you CR001,

I am the only parent living in the UK with my daughter and I am a British. She was granted her ILE based on my immigration status.

I hope that I have answered your question correctly.

Where is the other parent?

For citizenship for children born abroad, yjvi would expect the other parent to hold ILR, unless you javr sile responsibility.

What did you submit with the ile application to prove sole responsibility?

Children over the age of 13 require 2 years residence before you can apply for citizenship for them.

The other parent is not in the UK. I submitted the court documents showing that I was granted sole responsibility as well as the decree absolute showing that I have been divorced.

It was based on the above that her application to settle with me was granted and was issued ILE in February 2021.

You should then submit the same documents for the citizenship application.

Also note children under 18 are Registered as british, not naturalised which is only for adults.
