Naturalisation eligibility confused with dates

Post by happyguy82 » Mon Jan 05, 2015 5:35 pm

Hello,

Just a quick clarification required. If my ILR started on 15/03/2014 when will I be eligible to apply for Citizenship? Anytime after 16/03/2015 should be OK right?

Thanks.

Your 12 months will be complete on 14/03/2015 so you can apply on that date if you want. Its the date HO receives your application that counts so as long they receive your application on 15th, you'll be fine.

Dear akhurshid,
As per the previous posts, i understood that the day when you submit your application at NCS will be considered as your application date. So in this instance submit application at NCS 14/03/2015 and reaching homeoffice on 15/03/2015 will be fine ? Considering all other requirements were met.

Why i was asking because i want to get it clarified for my future application.

Thanks,
Suresh

When applying through the NCS it is the date of your appointment. (The date submitted with the NCS)
When applying by post, it is the date the HO receive it.
(Casa, not CR001)

In this scenario, If the person's ILR start date was on 15/03/2014 then he can apply naturalization on or after 14/03/2015 right [consider all other requirements were met.]

Is my understanding was correct ?

For the sake of one day, why not apply on 15th to make sure it is a full 12 months.
