I got my HSMP application!!!. It was within 8 business days after submitting it to the NY Consulate.

There is no time limit specified for me to enter UK and on asking the Visa officer I was told that I have 1 year to enter.

How is the CRM / Siebel market / Systems analyst market in the UK? Is it assured that we will get the ILR at the end of 1 year of we get a job??

Indefinite Leave to Remain (Permanent Residence) is only possible after 4 continuous years on the HSMP visa.

Hi Brad,

I think based on your masters you get 25 points. plus an additional 25 for the earnings in US. Since you have 3 years IT experience I am not sure. I thnk they need 5 years graduate level exp plus 2 years in specialist -IT field.

Do you have prior exp?
My case was MBA- 25 points
7 years IT with 3 years in CRM -25 and earnings -25 total 75 points

HSMP Guy:

Congratulations. Thanks for sharing the info. 8 business days is fast. Did you go in person? Did you give your passport?

Thanks,

Hi HSMP GUY,
Thanks for your quick reply.
I do have prior experience in IT, but it was part time (for about 2 years) .so does that count.
I mean I did that part time job while studying.
I can get some references from my manager that I did good work , but I don’t have things like prizes or awards or great recognization, is it still ok ???
Also graduate level exp means after experience gained after completing ur graduation???
Can you please write me back with the answers?
Thanks

Brad all the information you require is on this site, simply following the links on the home page or doing a search will answer your questions. This topic has been discussed many times over and the requirements are pretty clear.

Hey HSMP guy, I was wondering about the specialist requirement, you know the one that says, "A specialist position requiring a very high level of technical or artistic expertise". I believe that after one more year at my present job, and getting a MSc can qualify me for HSMP if I meet the specialist requirement. Unfortunately it's somewhat vaguely defined. Did you try to obtain points under this skill? If so, what's demonstrable as being a "specialist"? Thanks.

Hi Brad,

The way I proved my experience is by presenting letter offers, Pay stubs and W2 for the employer which provided proof of employment. If you can show this and it fits the criteria of 5 years then you should qualify.

To Herman,

I did take points under the specialist area - CRM under which I have 3 years experience.

To Himan,
I did apply in person, I was handed back my originals after the Visa officer checked through them. I was told I will get a response in 4 weeks. After 8 business days, I got a call to come and collect my passport

Hi HSMP GUY,
Thanks dude, you are such a kind soul.
i really appreciate ur patience in giving such informstive answers.
Thanks so much for the info and wish u the best things in the world in UK.
One last question though,
can i still make use of my 2 years part time work i did in IT while studying, because without that i cannot claim 5 years expierence at all.
so as such we really dont need to show awards, recognisation letter etc right???
anyway i dont want to pain u with tooo many question, but thank you so much for the info dude.
have fun,
IT guy

Hi Brad,

You caught me online this time so I am replying immediately!.

If you have awards, etc then you should present them if you want to take advantage of the additional points under 'exceptional achievement'. I do not have any awards etc which can help me get those points. Anyway exceptional achievement is considered something like a nobel proze or a known sportsman. I am definitely not in that category.

One of my friends has done a PHD and has a patent on his formulation. According to him he is taking those exceptional achievement points. He has not yet submitted his application.

My advise would be -If you think you qualify then do apply. All you might lose is $120, There is no harm in trying. Make sure that you do add up to 75 points though. I had a number of open questions on my application but it did get through.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply HSMP guy. I was wondering what IT areas are considered "specialist", or what you had to do to prove that you qualified under that. The "specialist" area is crucial to my HSMP standing, so that's why I'm so curious. Thanks for your help!

Well Done HSMP Guy, Congratulations.
Just one question, if you would be so kind. Salary, I am not asking about your wages, but of course it is important point. Do I really have to earn like big bucks (over 100k US or something)to be considered as HSMP ? I have a lots of experience in networking (IT) and whole bunch of certificates (Microsoft MCSE,Novell CNE,CNI,CCNA Cisco,Compaq,IBM etc) but unfortunately I don't earn that much. Do you think that still I have got a chance ? Or maybe Hector could answer that ? Thanks and congratulations once more ...

I would suggest you try our Points Calculator, if you are not sure. If you are currently working in the UK (regardless of nationality), you need to be earning GBP 40K + to score any points.
