The charges are Ł155 for a postal application, Ł250 for personal ones. Among the applications charged: extensions of stay (i.e., visa renewal, switching category), indefinite leave to remain, or stamping of a visa on a new passport. The charges will not apply to EEA nationals and their families and those under the EC Association Agreement. Work permits and HSMP visas are already charged for. Who says immigrants don't contribute to the UK economy !! Anyway its good to see some service standards from the Home Office at last.
