The Home Office announced that from 1 August they will charge for applications made to them.

The charges are £155 for a postal application, £250 for personal ones. Among the applications charged: extensions of stay (i.e., visa renewal, switching category), indefinite leave to remain, or stamping of a visa on a new passport.

The charges will not apply to EEA nationals and their families and those under the EC Association Agreement. Work permits and HSMP visas are already charged for.

They also said they aim at processing postal applications in a maximum of 13 weeks, with 70% percent resolved in 3 weeks.

Would there be a charge for HSMP renewal (renewal of Leave to remain)... the document says HSMP Applications are not charged... what about HSMP renewals?

Thanks for the info want_wp.....£155/£250 a pop and you may still have to wait for 13 weeks/3months. Who says immigrants don't contribute to the UK economy !! Anyway its good to see some service standards from the Home Office at last. I believe those long queues at Croydon may come to be a thing of the past - lets see what happens.
