Working as a security gaurd with a HSMP visa based on your accounting profession will amount to a violation of your HSMP implicit condition - that you should be working on your chosen field for which HSMP was granted.

Although it is a violation of the visa requirement, you may not face any problem as such until you apply for a renewal.

So do not apply for a renewal - because your current violation can go into your record and it may affect any future visas.

What you can do is try to get a job in your chosen field (for which HSMP was granted to you) quickly as possible and make a renewal application based on that.

Otherwise, to my knowledge your renewal will be impossible with your current security gaurd job.

One other point : Even if you get a job in accounting quickly, I doubt if you will be able to get a HSMP renewal - because the first 4-5 months (since April 2003) you have take up a non-HSMP applicable job and hence when applying for renewal, you will have to state the truth as to what were your economic activities in the UK for the 12 months of the HSMP visa.
If you do not declare your security job in the forst 5 months, it will amount to giving false information.
But if you do declare that economic activity as a gaurd job, you will not be given a renewal.
So I think either way, it will be an impossible task to get a renewal.
Not only that, you immigration record will be in bad shape (either way).

Government will not buy the idea that a HSMP holder was not able to get a job in your chosen field.
So, there is also no chance on banking on that argument as well.

So I don't know what to suggest - good luck!

I think your renewal depends on how hard you have been looking for a professional job. If you have continued to contact companies and recruiters and had interviews for HSMP-level positions after you started working as a security guard, I think that would be fine provided you can show proof that you have been looking for other jobs, and that you have been paying taxes on the security job.

If, on the other hand, you stopped looking for other higher-level jobs when you became a security guard, that would be not so good.

I totally agree with you Joseph01. Qualification is the main points to get a high-paid job but to some degrees also depends on your luck.
