Sigh of relief after many sleepless nights and restless days and worries about documents..
I got HSMP approval letter today.
I sent HSMP application on 8th Dec 2003 from Bangalore, India by (Royal-Indian)Speed Post, which was handed over to other Royals on 12th Dec 2003 and these royal people are really royal they handed over to HSMP office on the same day.
After that came X-mas and HSMP went on merrying..
I suspected something wrong with my application but insisted on waiting instead of calling HSMP office
So mine took 18 days.( Bash got his in 1 day )

I'm happy.
And thanx to all.
I couldn't participate much here in discussion because my knowledge/exp. of HSMP was not so extensive. But i was always here reading everything relevant and irrelevant.

I got 90 points (under-28). My case was very simple. 4+ yrs of exp in Telecom, and a bachelor degree. Nothing else to show. Following are the documents which i set with application and also i mentioned them in my cover letter

===========================================
Enclosures under each category of application form:

1. Date Of Birth
Passport (Xerox copy)

2. Educational Background
Degree certificate (Original copy)

3. Work Experience
a. Appointment letters (Original copies)
b. Resignation letters (Original copies)
c. Service certificates (Original copies)
d. Work experience certificates (Original copies)

4. Past earnings from work
a. Wage slips (Printouts from company’s web sites as companies don’t give paper pay slip and salary is directly debited into bank account)
b. Income Tax Returns (Original copies)
c. Salary offer letters given by Employers with Appointment letter (Original copies)
d. Bank Statement (Original copies)

5. Can you continue your career in UK
a. Do you speak English
i. The language of instruction in 4 years of Bachelor degree was English.
ii. In day to day life I use English as language of communication; even at home I use English to communicate.
iii. At my work the language of communication is English
b. Necessary relevant qualification to work in UK
I hold a 4 years of Bachelor Degree in Electronics Engineering, which is a relevant qualification to work in UK in the relevant field
c. What arrangements have you made to seek work upon arrival in the UK
Registration to various online job sites (printouts)
d. What do you expect to earn in the first 12 months in the UK
Salary projections and Job advertisements on Internet (printouts)
============================================

my past 12 months earnings was around 9k GBP.

Fee payement: payed by credit card

I always rely on Govt. Postal system and they again proved to be worthy. Private couriers, in my opinion, are not so reliable/responsible. That's why i didn't arrange for collection of docuemnts by courier.

I think i shared all my info with u all.
If u need any info ask me i'll be delighted to share with you

cheers
bye

Job hunting first then EC
i don't want to take risk as my case for EC will be week on the financial grounds
I'll have one dependent on my application, which in turn requires more fund.

So i'm assuming that if i have job then my case will be stronger. I know getting a job is not so easy. But let's see what is in the destiny.

Hi Ajay Congrats for getting HSMP.In your post you have mentioned that you send the docs using Speed Post.
How did HSMP team return the documents. Did they send it by first class post ?

Thanks

Tom,
Unless you specify, the documents are returned by first class mail. If you want your documents by courier or any other way you have to specify and have to make arrangements for it.

Sree,
Thanks for the reply. It would be helpful if Ajay could let us know how did he get his documents and the approval letter.
Did he make any arrangements for getting his documents back or did he wait for the HSMP team to send the docs and the letter by first class post.

Thanks

Tom,
My application was approved on the same day it was received. I used my courier company to pick up my documents.

Hi Sree,
Could you let me know which courier company you used.
Other members on this forum had problems getting their docs collected from HSMP team as they would not sign the delivery notice.

Thanks

Tom,
I sent the originals (yes...you have to send originals for the evidence). I have Master degree and I am working in a Fortune 500 company in the USA. I paid through my credit card. They do not take the risk handing your documents to other people. So, you have to make arrangements and let them know that somebody will come and pick your documents up. If you are using courier company make sure that you are responsible person for paying it. If you can wait, then prefer to get by their first class mail. I am not sure how many days it will take to receive if you are in India. If you enclose all the required documents (do not enclose the documents which are not required), you will get the approval notice less than three days.
All the best.

Hi sree,
I'm currently consolidating my application/documents to send it to HSMP team. I'm working in USA. Is it possible to contact you by email or phone(which ever is convenient for you) if you donot have any objections.

thanks,
Rajp

Hi All,
I just want to add one more info.
The HSMP Approval letter's date is 16th Dec 2003 so it means in my case they took 4 days.

To Tom Jones:
I think u already got answer from sree.
By default HSMP will send ur documents and HSMP Approval Letter (a 1 page letter) by Royal Mail's First Class delivery. It's unregistered Post but in my case Postman was kind enought to hand it over to me rather than throwing it somewhere in the compound of my house.

my yahoo id is: ajay_kumarsingh we can meet virtually if u don't mind

or u can e-mail me at ajay_kumarsingh@yahoo.com

P.S i'm not Sardar

To Pramila:
next step is job hunting and then EC
or
First EC then Land_In_UK then job hunting
depends in which way u prefer

Hi sree2004,
That's fine with me. My first and foremost concern is for my original documents(as is the case for everybody).Which service did you use to send and recieve your documents?
Is it USPS/Fedex(as u said u are presently in USA) or any other service? What arrangements have you made to make sure you get your documents back safetly?

Thanks,
Rajp

9000 GBP = 675000 Rs per annum. Monthly salary - 675000/12 = Rs: 56,250.
Wah, what a fantastic salary !!!

Would you mind telling me which company in India offered you this much salary.
I am planning to return to India as there are no job opportunities in the UK nowadays. If I would get this much salary in India (especially in B'lore) why should I be here?

BTW, I am 30 years old B.E in Computer Science with 7 years exp in IT and a UK ILR holder.

That's Gross salary Cash in Hand will be less remember that and also don't forget Bangalore is Costliest city in India and the situation is getting worse here. You won't find place to drive forget about parking for vehicles.
Bangalore has lost it's charm of Pensioner's paradise. Weather in summer is same as summer of North India...
and house rent is too much and one strange thing about bangalore is that u gonna deposit 10 months house rent in advance, the interest owner will keep.
And it seems Bangalore is getting flooded by Returning American Desis..
They bring Green bucks making poor people like us more poorer...
Because of them cost of everything is shooting up..
I was dreaming of buying an Appartment for myself but it seems all Residential appartments are Booked before the project is launched...
Survival is becoming more difficult.
Just 3-4 years ago when i frist landed in Bangalore life was really cool and so cool was weather..
..
...
i'm not complaining just telling you reality..
And explaining why one should go to UK
hope u understood me

Life in Bangalore with Rosy Job and fat pay is worse than life in West/USA with no job and less pay ..
..

Sorry guys i gotta deviated from main topic..

Hi Bangalore Guys / Gals,
Can you please give us some idea about the cost of living in bangalore these days ?

Typical rent for a two /three bedroom flat in a good location ?
Any taxes on top of Income tax ?
Cable / TV ?
Going out (restaurants costs) etc ?
Grocery ?
Any other costs ?

How much do you think cost of living per month for a typical family would be there in bangalore ?

I can tell you about UK that cost of living here is increasing at a typical rate of 6-7 % per annum with pay rises per annum being in the range of 2-3 % in IT.

However i feel that in bangalore the typical pay rises are about 20-30% and i do not think the cost of living would be increasing anywhere near the same factor.

Thanks

Here you go..

Typical rent for a two /three bedroom flat in a good location ?
minimmum 6k (like area) to maximum 40k (So called Posh Appartment)
On average take it 8-9k for descent living.
But remeber you won't have much choice.
If u want good locality u gonna pay much much.

Any taxes on top of Income tax ?
200 Rupees Professional TAX

Cable / TV ? 250 Rupees per month + 1000/1500 Rupees installation cost(one time)

Going out (restaurants costs) etc ?
I like home food but Bangalore have a huge numbers of restaurants - good and cheap..
u can find desent thali in 30-40 Ruppes (per person)

Grocery ?
not costly i have no idea..

Any other costs ?
mummm!!! what other cost ?
Electricity Bill, Water Bill, Petrol is costliest in Bangalore..
and O2 level decreasing
Welcome to Bang

salary hike depends on situation in bad time it was 0% hike.. now a days it's average 10-40%
Rent increases @ 11% per annum
Petrol prices keeps on increasing.
so the other costs..
Cost of living is going higher day by day ...

hope it helps...

Would u like to share same info for UK if u are familiar with .

Guys,
Other side of the grass always green . I am in US and thinking that the opportunities are getting better in UK.
In the cities like Hyderabad, B'lore the cost of living is getting more and more expensive IT sorrounding areas.
