My HSMP application just left with the courier company. Now the waiting starts....

My application contained;

a) Cover letter explaining unclear points.

b) Fully Completed HSMP application form;
i) Work experience: 50 Points
ii) Past Earnings: 35 Points
TOTAL POINTS: 85

c) Attached Full List of all employers, certificate of service letters (originals).

d) Attached 12 months pay slips (original), with employer letter stating salary (original), with 6 months bank statements (internet version but stamped by bank). Last years copy of tax certificate (I explained why copy and not original-Revenue Service got it) this was to prove that I do pay taxes. I also provided a list of the 12 months salary figures in South African Rands, added it up and divided by exchange rate (i used a bigger forex rate figure for worst case) to show GBP figure - proving I do qualify income level/band.

e)Provided a personal budget forecast for 12 months which will be followed upon arrival in the United Kingdom. Attached original letter from Bank indicating my current withdrawal value of my provident fund, which I will get upon my resignation. I do not have huge savings to offer thats why I used provident fund (amounts to £9,500 after tax).

f) Attached evidence of my search for a job in the United Kingdom via Internet and job-sites registered with. I included also some correspondence from a UK government department about a potential job, which I am applying for.

g) I also included my curriculum vitae for further reference. Included as well was my IEEE Membership Card for 2004.

h) In order to clarify the English language requirement, I am fully conversed in English, as this is my language of use. I am fluent in speech, reading and writing. Both the business and IT industries are English in South Africa. Further, I have to converse and write reports in English. Stated this in cover letter.

i) Also noted in last paragraph of courier company to collect my documents, when they done with my doc's.

j) I also included a self-addressed reply envelope.

Wish me luck everyone!!

Chess, you correct, IEEE stands for Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, I belong to the Computer Society. Have not touch base with members in South Africa though.

I humbly apologise - BUT a HUGE THANK YOU for all members on this forum - I was about to spend thousands of SA Rands for a company to file my application - with your knowledge and dedication I gained enough courage to do it myself. As previously said - the clock is ticking....again THANK YOU all - this forum is GREAT!!! Don't worry I know I didnt get HSMP yet - just VERY happy its over - it took 3 months for me to be convinced to apply!!

Granted that yours took a day - just checked if card was charged - no luch yet - darn - that means the longer this bundle at Doncaster wait the more money it cost and the longer I wait...hhhmmm darn!

Sorry, just that my patience is at an extreme low level, for now...just need to wait...like everyone else..

JayGee,

Ek is nie vlot in afrikaans, maar lekker van jou te hoor my vriend!

I am in Banker in London. IT and me dont go very well together. Was on WP for 3 years + 1 Year HSMP and now ILR.

Rand seems to be going one way after the brief break! You must be effortlessly growing your investments I guess.

Bestuurder in IT should make it big here - Welcome and good luck Sir.

Hi Ajay - well if your question is directed at me then 5 (English, Afrikaans, Xhosa, Dutch and German). I must admit the Xhosa and German is not used everyday.

If you are talking of the country then we have 11 official languages - dont ask me to mention them - not even sure myself without checking up first.

Ajay,

If you 'dig' out the world - map......look at the continent called 'AFRICA'....

you will see that there are about 50 countries........and for every country there are about 50 languages/dialects..

so in a nut shell..over 250 languages are dialects are spoken in Africa

Good maths Chess - if you 'dig' out the calculator (or you can use abacus) it says 50 x 50 = 2500 and not 250.
