So typical, in this country everything is done in the last minute.

What does it mean a worker registration?
Will the asscesion countries nationals need to obtain a work permit or not to work in UK?
Will asscesion nationals need a visa or not?

Suppose I will start working in UK as of May 1st and on August 1st UK Home Office will impose restriction against East Europeans nationals because of serious flood.
Will I have to leave UK or I will be allowed to stay in UK inthat case??????

Marcel,

I would advise you to come to the UK as early as you can before employment right is restricted as well.

The rules are not yet set in stone - except that I suspect that those who prove they have 'jobs arranged' or 'in employment' should be OK.

Problems start when you try claiming benefits......or driving on the wrong side of the road..

HO does not expect more than 13,000 to come to the UK as a result of the EU accession.

My Slovakian cleaner told me that ALL her friends would be coming to the UK on the 1st of May 2004. Only Time will tell if the HO is right or wrong.

Any initial 'flood' will be cancelled out as a depressed UK wage market makes it unworthwhile to relocate from the new EU states especially given the new levels of investment that IMHO will be poured into these countries - same thing happened in Ireland.

Yes, but it may take months - and months is a long time for those who have arrived on HSMP :-)

This is not always true. Greece is still a poor country while having been a EU member for some time.

In Poland the unemployement reached 21% what is a disaster.
In Slovakia there was unrest recently caused by gipcies (Roma) protesting against lack of jobs in Slovakia.

I do not believe in any better future in East Europe. East Germany still remains poor after re-unification with the West Germany.

I am not aware of a flood of 'Greeks' into the UK are you?
