I am BE(Computers Sc.) and 12 years good IT experience. worked 6 years in US and since last 1 year in big MNC in India. Wife is B.A. from India. My bank saving and assects are big. I have few questions be4 I apply. I will really appreciate if any one can reply me there questions -

1) What are the chances I will get approval ?

2) I am very afraid to send my original documents from India to UK. I will use DHL or some other good courier service. But is there any risk of missing docs ?

3) Do I need to send my passport too, it is not mentioned any where in the Web ?

4) Approximately how much time it will take from sending my application and getting back my original papers (with or w/o approval....) ?

5) If I send photocopies of any doc, will it be ok to attest with any notary, or anyone special ?

This is my first day in this site and I am very much impressed with it. Keep the good work.
Regards

1. You need to read the information booklet on HSMP to ascertain your chances.

2. Yes there is a risk. Can anybody send your papers providing you 100% guarantee?

3. You dont need to send your passport as you will be applying from India

4. I think it takes 6-8 weeks now.

5. Yes, attested copies are okay to send.

Thanks a lot Dip.
Pl let me know two more things -
1)In India I have Visa credit card from HDFC bank if I give that card's information for the payment, will they be able to take money from that card or is there any other type of internation credit cards which I should use ?
2) Attest copies from Notary is the best way or there are some better ways to attest ?

1. I am not sure of the latest regulations in India. Check with HDFC if the card is good for FX payments. There will be a number to call on the back of the card. Last I remember in India, One needed an International Card.

2. You could have the copies attested by your employer.

I've mentioned it before... but anyway

to all Indians (may apply to other nationals too w/re their govts.):

Your passport is NOT your personal property. It is the property of the Government of India and canNOT be sent out of any country by post. It has to accompany you in person.

Please take the time to read the last page of the Passport!
