Hello. I am a non-EU citizen but will be marrying a French national soon. I am currently residing and employed in Austria and have a current 1 year work permit until March 2002. Does anyone know if I can obtain a European work permit based on my marital status, or can I continue to work in Austria based on this same status. Does anyone know of an agency that can assist me and my company in this matter?

Thanks in advance

Mischa

Hi Mischa

Currently there is no such thing as a "European work permit" unfortunately. If you are married to an EU citizen, however, you are allowed to work in the EU country in which your spouse is working. For example, if your husband is working full-time in Italy, then you could also work in Italy (without having a job offer and sponsorship). You would need to get a residence permit for each country you reside in just like any other EU citizen.

We could assist you with the process if you wish to work in France once you are married. Please contact me on france@workpermit.com to discuss our services in more detail.

Best regards
