Hi, I am currently an MBA student in Germany. I have been living here for about 1.5 years and I'll finish the course in about 3 months. My question is whether I'll be able to do a traineeship in a global (Germany) company? I should also mention that I have no work experience apart from 3 interships which would total to about 12 months internship work experience. I specialize in International Management. Is there an easier way for me to obtain a German work permit or in that case any western European countries? Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I am 24 year old and holding an Indonesian passport. I would be thankfull for any help anyone can provide me.

Hi Chris,

Yes, there is an opportunity that you may possibly make use of. As a recent German University graduate, you may apply for a German work permit if you find a company that is willing to put you on a recognized professional training course that will demonstrably improve your professional qualifications.

Once you would have completed such a training course, your employer would possibly be able to prove that they are unable to find any suitable German replacement for you, which could then constitute the basis for granting you a work permit over a longer period of time.

Bottom line, if you manage to find a German company that is interested to further train and subsequently hire you, you should have good chances to remain in Germany.

Best wishes
