I was wondering if anyone knows of the policy in Austria on Visa regulations and if you can tell me what the most important areas are to fill out on the Visa form. It is confusing as my purpose is to start an auto racing career there, but they ask what your country of destination is after your stay in Austria. I come from the US, but I am not interested in returning to the US. It also asks for intended means of transport. By this I take it that they mean by ship or by plane, am I correct in assuming this? They also ask about the border of first entry into the schengen states. My plane ticket specifies a change of flights in Zurich, Switzerland, so would I be correct in assuming that as the proper place to write on the Visa application? Would some place like the Triple A motorclub who issues international drivers licences know about how to fill out the Visa form so that I can figure this out better? I am sorry if I have so many seemingly stupid questions, but this is new to me and I don't want to make any mistakes that might cost me time and money.
Thanks,
Philip

Hi Philip,

Your questions are not stupid at all, I will try to answer them as good as I can:

- Country of Destination after your stay in: I think this question is meant mainly for people who are entering the Schengen zone through one country and then travelling on to another Schengen country. In your case, I understand that you have booked a flight to Vienna; although changing planes in Switzerland, you would presumably not leave the transit area there, eg. put down "Austria - Austria" here (you should put down Austria twice, since the country through which you are entering the Schengen area is Austria, and your country of distination is also Austria).
- Intended means of transport: yes, please put down the means of transport you are using to travel to your destionation in Austria - eg., presumably "flight" or "plane".

Sorry for being slow to respond to your query.

Best regards

P.S. Good luck with your motor racing career!Being a motor racing fan myself, I would be curious to know how you are planning to build your career there in Austria?

Hi Marcis,
In response to your question of how I plan to accomplish my career start. I plan on going to Nürburgring Germany and attend racing school at a school called Zakspeed. This is of course if I cannot find a school in Austria, which has been overly difficult for me as no one seems to know where the schools are except for Expat Consulting, which is an agency that assists Expats in getting work permits, registering with the police and so forth. They said that they will help me the best that they can in finding a racing school offering the type of schooling that I need. Many people are F1 nuts, so there are tons of schools for that in the world, but Touring Car, is a sport that the Australlians are really into and therefore the bulk of the schools for Touring Car are there. I don't want to go to Australlia because it is too expensive to live there, similar to the UK, but worse. So, in Austria where I have been before, I feel I have a better chance of finding what I am looking for. Anyway, cheers to you in being another motorsport enthusiast, like myself. And thanks a lot for clarifying the Visa application. They don't seem to care if they help you at the Consulate General.
